Rev. Merlyn Rosetta Hyde Riley is a Minister of Religion. She has served in various capacities in the Jamaica Baptist Union as Pastor, Interim Pastor, Associate General Secretary, and more recently as Acting General Secretary of the Union.
Her qualifications include a Master of Science in Gender and Development Studies, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theology, and a BA in Arts & General Studies from the University of the West Indies, Mona. She received her formal training in Theology at the United Theological College of the West Indies, where she received a Diploma in Ministerial Studies and a Complementary Certificate in Ecumenical Studies, from the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
Rev. Hyde Riley currently represents the Jamaica Council of Churches (JCC) on the National Council on Education and has served on and continues to serve on several Boards of Management of public educational institutions, churches and other community-based organizations.
The establishment of the NCE was born out of the need to have a non-partisan, national and strategically placed organisation that would "address a wide range of issues impacting the education process".
