The National Council on Education (NCE) was established by an Act of Parliament in March 1993. It is a statutory body responsible to the Ministry of Education (MOE).
The establishment of the NCE was born out of the need to have a non-partisan, national and strategically placed organization that would ‘address a wide range of issues impacting the education process.’ It therefore reflects an attempt to ensure continuity in educational policy development.
It is also intended to contribute to greater community involvement in the management of educational institutions.
