Education Minister Senator Dr. The Hon. Dana Morris Dixon is calling on communities across Jamaica to step up and help curb persistent student absenteeism. Speaking recently at Parliament’s Standing Finance Committee, she highlighted that the issue goes beyond occasional absences, noting that even in Region 1 (Kingston and St. Andrew), consistent attendance is hovering around an unacceptable 82%. The Ministry is stressing that without community intervention, long-standing learning outcomes will continue to be undermined.
