The National Council on Education (NCE) is inviting interested, qualified persons to participate in a vital aspect of our schools’ development. Volunteers are being sought to serve on school boards in Region 1 (Kingston and St. Andrew).
Volunteers must satisfy the following minimum criteria:
Board Chairmen:
post-secondary education;
three years’ experience in supervisory management;
proven track record in supervision and management;
a deep interest in education and nation-building;
excellent negotiating, inter-personal and conflict resolution skills.
Other Nominated Members:
must have at least secondary education.
All nominees (including the Chairman) must be willing and accessible to serve, available on call and should be fit and proper persons.
A “fit and proper” person is defined as one who is of sound mind and who has not been convicted of an offence under the Offences Against the Person Act, the Child Care and Protection Act or an offence of fraud or dishonesty.

REGION 1 (Kingston & St. Andrew)
In keeping with the cyclical appointment process, the tenure of school boards in Region 1 (Kingston and St. Andrew) is scheduled to terminate December 31, 2020. The National Council on Education is inviting Members of Parliament (MP), representatives of denominations and trusts, Principals and Education Officers to submit nominations/recommendations to:

on or before October 31, 2020 to facilitate the timely appointment of school boards.
Recommendations/Nominations should be submitted as follows:
Persons who have served on a school board during the immediate past tenure and who wish to continue to serve should complete the Nomination Form A for Government-Owned institutions.
Persons who have never served on a school board before should complete the Volunteer Data Form.
Elected representatives should be submitted by Principals of the educational institutions on the Nomination Form B with supporting documentation as evidence that the representatives were duly elected by the respective organizations.
Persons nominated by denominations and trusts should be submitted on the Nomination Form A for Denominational and Trust Schools.
The establishment of the NCE was born out of the need to have a non-partisan, national and strategically placed organisation that would "address a wide range of issues impacting the education process".
